The South River Day Camp program is available to children who live locally or have a cottage in the area and are looking for a day camp program in a fun summer camp environment.
Any boy or girl who lives or cottages locally and is looking for an alternative to daycare. They should also be excited to experience fun, safe water- and land-based activities.
South River Day Camp is a recreation program run by the Village of South River and hosted on the beautiful grounds of Hockey Opportunity Camp. Operating Monday to Friday for 8 weeks in July and August, this program welcomes children ages 5–13 for a fun, active, and engaging summer experience.
Campers enjoy FREE transportation along a designated route with multiple pickup and drop-off points in South River and Sundridge. The bus arrives at camp at 8:45 am and departs at 3:45 pm daily. Campers must bring their own packed lunch each day.
Throughout the week, children participate in a variety of exciting, age-appropriate activities led by qualified Day Camp instructors. Daily swimming is included through the Lifesaving Society’s Swim for Life Program, giving campers the opportunity to learn water safety skills and work toward badge levels in a fun, supportive environment.

Mountain Bike Specialty Week (Only Offered Week 1): Campers will spend an action-packed week riding exciting trails on camp property, developing skills in bike handling, trail safety, climbing, descending, and navigating varied terrain. Led by our experienced Mountain Bike Instructors, this program is designed for all ability levels and focuses on building confidence through fun drills and guided rides. All equipment is provided, with the option to bring a personal bike and helmet.
Outdoor Survival Specialty Week (Only Offered Weeks 2, 4 and 6): Campers will develop real outdoor skills in this week-long Outdoor Survival Program, featuring shelter building, primitive fire making, orienteering, canoeing, fishing, and nature identification. The highlight of the week is an Overnight Camping Experience in a large canvas tent on the camp’s forested property, with dinner, campfire snacks, breakfast, and lunch included. Campers will need to pack additional supplies for the overnight adventure.
Water Ski Specialty Week (Only Offered Week 8): Campers will have the chance to participate in 1 hour of waterskiing daily, with instruction from our certified Water Ski Instructors. Campers can choose from water skiing, kneeboarding, wakeboarding, slalom skiing and tubing on Fridays. All skill levels are welcome to participate in this exciting water sport.

Aquaglide & Lily Pad
It’s big, it’s slippery, it’s challenging, and most importantly, it’s tons of fun. This Challenge Track will suit our busy waterfront best. Its obstacle-style course offers campers the opportunity to safely test their balance, climbing skills, agility and speed on the water.

Sand Castle Building
Sandcastle Building lets campers get creative and work together to design and build epic creations along the shore. It’s a fun way to spark imagination, teamwork, and a little friendly competition.

Arts & Crafts
Explore your creative side during our Arts and Crafts sessions. Campers will have the opportunity during the week to complete crafts of their choice ranging from friendship bracelets, paint rocks, building dream catchers, and many more.

Disc Golf
This 9-hole disc golf course is set up throughout the landscape of lakeside camp. Campers use regulation disc golf frisbees to test their throwing skills and reach the disk golf baskets. The fewer throws you need to reach the basket, the better your score!

Elements & Wall Climbing
Wall Climbing and Elements on our 40-foot wall challenge campers to climb, problem-solve, and build confidence in a fun, safe environment. With trained staff and cheering teammates below, campers learn perseverance and teamwork as they push toward the top.

Scavenger Hunt
Our Scavenger Hunt takes campers all around camp as they solve clues and complete fun challenges. It’s the perfect mix of teamwork, problem-solving, and adventure.

Bouldering Wall
Not quite as high as our Outdoor Wall structure, this activity still tests your climbing, balance, and agility skills as you cross the horizontal bouldering wall.

Kayaking & Paddle Boarding
Kayaking and Paddleboarding give campers the chance to explore the water while improving balance, coordination, and confidence. Whether they’re cruising solo or paddling with friends, it’s always a highlight of the day.

Field Games
From kickball, to capture the flag and ultimate frisbee, Field Games at HOC are always action-packed. Campers will have a chance to release some energy and enjoy these team-sport activities.

Tubing
Tubing is an unforgettable ride across the water, filled with big smiles and even bigger splashes. Campers can challenge themselves, cheer on their friends, and enjoy the thrill of the tow.

Fire Building teaches campers essential outdoor skills as they learn how to safely build and maintain a campfire. It’s a hands-on activity that builds confidence, responsibility, and teamwork.
Forest Games
Camouflage is a predator-prey hiding game played in a 50m2 zone in the forest. Campers hide and chase each other as predator or forest dweller, by learning to conceal themselves and their movements.
