Hockey Opportunity Camp has incredible leadership in our Hockey program.  All of our Head Hockey Instructors combine playing, coaching and instructing experience with a love for summer camp and working with youth.

We are thrilled to welcome Josh Dixon and his young family back for another summer with us.  Josh’s passion and enthusiasm for the game and teaching/learning the game is contagious!

Head Hockey Instructor

David is back for his 10th summer on the ice with us, and we couldn’t be happier about that! David retired in June 2022 as an elementary school principal with the Halton District School Board.  He is the elder statesman in our hockey program.  His wisdom and experience are valued and appreciated.  When David isn’t on the ice leading our campers and staff, he’s usually on the water.

· Played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League on a line with Luc Robtaille,
· All Canadian and League Scoring Champion, U SPORTS (CIS) Hockey, St. Francis Xavier University

· 35 years in education, 15 as an elementary school principal (retired)

Matthew O'Brian
Associate Hockey Director/Head Hockey Instructor

We are incredibly excited to bring Matt's energetic approach back to our leadership team on the ice this summer! Matt seamlessly translates a highly successful junior and collegiate playing career directly into player development. Having moved through every role at Hockey Opportunity Camp from Camper and CIT to Head Hockey Instructor, he truly knows what makes the HOC hockey program so successful. Matt is uniquely equipped to mentor our staff and elevate our on-ice programming.

· 8 Years at HOC – Progressed from Camper, CIT, and Head Instructor to Associate Hockey Director
· Currently – Assistant Coach & Skills Coach – Brock University Badgers Men's Hockey Team, U SPORTS
· Director of Coaching Development – Humber Valley Hockey Association
· Academic Expertise – Completing his Master's in Sport Management (Coaching Development Focus) at Brock University 
· 3 Seasons – U SPORTS Student-Athlete – Brock University Badgers (including a trip to the prestigious University Cup national tournament)
· Team Captain – Toronto Jr. Canadiens, OJHL (2019-20)
· Respect in Sport Certified
· Elite Junior Background – Logged 157 career games in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL), racking up an impressive 118 total points.


Jake Grimes

We are excited to welcome Jake Grimes back to our hockey leadership team! Jake brings an incredible, elite hockey background combined with over two decades of coaching experience across major junior and university ranks. His dedication to small-group skill development and shaping student-athletes makes his contagious energy and passion a perfect addition to our summer hockey program.

· Currently – Associate Coach – University of Guelph Gryphons Men's Hockey Team, U SPORTS
· 2 Years – Head Hockey Instructor – Hockey Opportunity Camp
· 2024 Memorial Cup Champion – Associate Coach – Saginaw Spirit, OHL
· 3 Years – Head Coach – Cape Breton Eagles, QMJHL (2019-2022)
· 15 Seasons – Assistant & Associate Coach – OHL (Belleville Bulls, Peterborough Petes, and Guelph Storm, including the 2019 OHL Championship Title)
· 4 Times – Team Ontario Coaching Staff – World Under-17 Challenge (including a Gold Medal in 2008 and twice serving as Head Coach)
· Additional Coaching Experiences – Associate Coach – University of Waterloo Warriors (U SPORTS); Assistant Coach – Dalhousie Tigers (U SPORTS); Head Coach – Petrolia Jets (Junior B)
· Playing Background – Drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft; recorded a phenomenal 113-point season as an alternate captain during his 3-season OHL playing career with the Belleville Bulls.

We are thrilled to bring Katie Mora’s outstanding wealth of experience back to the ice for her second summer at Hockey Opportunity Camp! A long-time fixture of the elite development landscape, Katie has built a stellar reputation for her ability to elevate talent on and off the ice. Her progression from a standout collegiate student-athlete to a premier head coach in university hockey brings an invaluable level of mentorship, strategy, and energy to our campers.

· Currently – Head Coach – University of Guelph Gryphons Women's Hockey Team, U SPORTS
· 2 Years at HOC – Returning to lead our players and staff after a fantastic debut season on the camp ice
· 9 Seasons – Coaching Staff – University of Guelph Gryphons (serving as Associate Coach for 7 seasons before taking over Head Coach duties in 2023)
· Technical Director – Guelph Girls Hockey Association (Heading up player development and coach mentorship)
· 5 Seasons – U SPORTS Student-Athlete – University of Guelph Gryphons (2010-2015), racking up 72 career points, named team MVP, and serving as a multi-year Captain.
· Elite Junior Background – Former Team Captain for the Cambridge Rivulettes in the Provincial Women's Hockey League (PWHL).
· NCCP Certified – Hockey Canada
· Respect in Sport Certified
· Academic Credentials – Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm) in Tourism Management from the University of Guelph.

Ryan Marshall

We are proud to welcome Ryan Marshall’s strong competitive drive back to our coaching staff this summer. Ryan is a familiar face on the camp ice, having previously served as an HOC hockey instructor before stepping up to the role of Head Hockey Instructor during the summer of 2025. He uses his extensive playing experience as a commanding blueliner to teach strong defensive tactics. Known for his work ethic and physical presence, he is a phenomenal asset for campers looking to elevate their overall game!

· 3 Years – Instructor / Head instructor – Hockey Opportunity Camp
· Elite Junior Background – Logged 116 career games in the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL), anchoring the defensive corps for both the Lucan Irish and the North Middlesex Stars while racking up 94 total points.
· 3 Seasons – GOJHL Student-Athlete, Strathroy Rockets.
· Senior Circuit Experience – Continues his competitive career on the backend playing senior men's hockey with the Alvinston Killer Bees (WOSHL).
· NCCP Certified – Hockey Canada
· Respect in Sport Certified


Ryan Marshall
Head Hockey Instructor

We are happy to welcome Ethan Tichenoff's dynamic energy back to our camp coaching staff! Ethan is a familiar leader on the HOC ice, having built an outstanding relationship with our athletes as a Hockey Instructor in 2024 before stepping up to serve as Head Hockey Instructor during the summer of 2025. Ethan translates a highly decorated junior career directly into teaching creativity, high-speed puck handling, and scoring instincts to our campers.

· 3 Years – Instructor / Head instructor – Hockey Opportunity Camp
· League-Leading Scorer – Dominated the Ontario junior circuit in 2023-24, finishing 2nd in overall scoring across the entire 61-team PJHL with a spectacular 92 points in just 37 regular-season games.
· Award-Winning Junior Career – Named the PJHL Yeck Division MVP and Top Scorer (2023-24) while serving as Assistant Captain and rewriting the record books to become the all-time franchise goal-scoring leader for the North Middlesex Stars.
· Dual-Sport Academic Athlete – Competed at the university level as a dual-sport athlete while completing his degree in Kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario.
· Senior Circuit & Mastery – Continues to play competitive Senior A hockey while advancing his studies in sport and athlete psychology to help players elevate their on-ice mental performance.
· NCCP Certified – Hockey Canada
· Respect in Sport Certified


Meagan Lee

We are delighted to welcome Meagan Lee’s incredible passion for elite athlete development to our camp leadership team! Meagan made a fantastic impact during her debut season on the HOC ice in the summer of 2025! Her seamless transition from an accomplished collegiate student-athlete to a premier university coach makes her an invaluable mentor for young players striving to unlock their full potential on and off the ice.

· Currently – Assistant Coach – University of Guelph Gryphons Women's Hockey Team, U SPORTS (appointed Assistant Coach in 2023)
· 2 Years at HOC – Returning to lead our players and staff after an amazing first summer at Hockey Opportunity Camp in 2025.
· Technical Director – Guelph Girls Hockey Association (Heading up player development and coach mentorship)
· 5 Seasons – U SPORTS Student-Athlete – Standout Defenseman for the University of Guelph Gryphons (2014-2019), capturing an OUA Championship and a prestigious U SPORTS National Championship title in 2019.
· Academic Credentials – Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Human Kinetics from the University of Guelph.
· NCCP Certified – Hockey Canada
· Respect in Sport Certified
