Job Title: Health Care Support
Reports To: Health Care Coordinator/Doctor/Nurse

As a valued member of the HOC Health Care Team, the Health Care Support helps maintain the health and safety of all campers and staff. Working closely with the Health Care Coordinator, this role ensures the smooth and efficient operation of the Health Centre and related systems.

Key responsibilities include keeping the Health Centre, First Aid Kits, and Eye Wash Stations stocked and organized, reviewing camper and staff medical forms for accuracy and completeness, and assisting with daily health care tasks such as first aid, medication delivery, and camper health monitoring. The Health Care Support also participates in HOC’s Emergency Response Team, ensuring readiness for all situations.

By upholding the values and standards of HOC’s Child Care Practices, the Health Care Support helps create a safe, caring, and well-organized camp environment that prioritizes the well-being of every camper and staff member.

DAILY/WEEKLY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Role Specific Responsibilities
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked Health Centre at all times.
    • Inspect and restock First Aid Kits and Eye Wash Stations across camp and at the arena regularly.
    • Track medical supply inventory and assist with ordering when needed.
    • Support the daily opening and closing of the Health Centre.
    • Follow all camp health and safety protocols, including HOC’s Communicable & Infectious Disease Control Policy.
    • Assist the Health Care Coordinator with administrative duties and general Health Centre organization.
      • Review and update camper and staff medical profiles in the Campsite system.
      • Ensure all Health Forms are submitted, reviewed, and locked before program participation.
      • Maintain accurate, confidential health records and ensure proper documentation of all visits, treatments, and incidents.
    • Provide first aid support to campers and staff within certification limits.
    • Support medication delivery and documentation as directed by the Health Care Coordinator.
    • Help manage daily wellness routines and ensure medical and personal needs are met.
    • Offer a calm and reassuring presence in the Health Centre to support camper comfort and confidence.
    • Transport campers or staff to clinic appointments, hospitals, or urgent care facilities as required.
    • Work closely with the Health Care Coordinator and the weekly Health Care Team to ensure consistent and high-quality care.
    • Assist with onboarding and transitions between weekly health care teams.
    • Attend and contribute to Health Care Team meetings and briefings.
    • Actively participate as a member of HOC’s Emergency Response Team.
  • All Staff Responsibilities
    • All staff are required to deliver every day our Brand Promise, “Best Summer Of Your Life”, in each camper and staff interaction. Guided by our four core principles: Community, Leadership, Accountability, and Performance.
    • All staff are expected to abide by and enforce the camp guidelines of respect. These are the rules and expectations of behaviour implemented to maintain a fun and safe camp environment.
    • All staff are responsible for the safety and security of each camper in their care. Staff are to follow prescribed program standards and lesson plans in order to ensure the highest level of care and instruction.
    • Attendance for all staff at the June orientation week training is mandatory. This training period is where each staff member will receive essential employment information and training for a successful summer experience.
    • Leadership and participation in camp-wide special events (All Camps, Friday Finale, Evening Programs) and weekly meetings are an expectation of all staff members.
    • The dynamic nature of summer camp demands that each staff member understand that additional duties may be assigned as required.

SUMMER BENEFIT AND TIME OFF

  • Room & Board Provided.
  • Weekly Staff Hockey & Water Skiing.
  • Time off will be scheduled on an as-needed basis up to the equivalent of a weekend off. Sunday Check-ins are a mandatory part of the Health Care Support’s job responsibilities, and therefore, time off will be scheduled around this. Time off must be scheduled in advance with the Assistant Director(s).

EMPLOYMENT PERIOD

Employment Period: May 25th, 2026 – August 22nd, 2026

Wages: Summer wages vary depending on age, qualifications and experience of applicants. Room and board are included


RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 19 years of age and completing at least a three-year Nursing Program or a 2-year Paramedic Program.
  • Genuine interest in working with children.
  • Experience working with children of various ages. Specific camp experience is an asset.
  • Bronze Cross or National Lifeguard swimming qualification (preferred).
  • Currently holding an advanced or instructor-level Standard First Aid and CPR certificate.
  • Respect in Sport certification.
  • Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and positive.
  • Must be willing to take part in camp-related activities outside the defined job description.
  • Must possess a valid G driver’s license.
