Theory & Development Sessions

The first two weeks will focus on specific counselling strategies, instructional techniques, and sports skill development in all available camp program areas. The schedule is organized to focus primarily on counselling skills in order to prepare CITs for the mentor program. Activity classes are provided to create interest in various camp program areas, increase skill level and develop instructional methods. Theory and development sessions will be broken up into Counselling Sessions, Teaching Sessions, and Activity Sessions. For example: Counselling Sessions Teaching Sessions Activity Classes Camper Needs Communication Mountain Biking Emergency Procedures Planning & Organization Canoeing Camper Care Evaluation Writing Sports & Games Code of Conduct Teaching Techniques Archery Counselling Techniques Team Building Snorkelling Child Abuse Wall Climbing Camper Behaviour Theory sessions will be taught in both a lecture format, as well as a hands on practical approach.
