The requirements listed below are in addition to the general requirements listed in the Activity Instructor and Program Head job descriptions. Please review requirements when determining the exact job description you will be applying for.

LAND ACTIVITIES:

Mountain Biking
- Personal interest and experience teaching mountain biking safety and skills.
- Must be able to repair and maintain bikes. Daily maintenance of trails, bikes and helmets is also required.
- Bronze Cross preferred.

Outdoor Adventure
- Personal interest and experience teaching children the skills of outdoor adventure including fire and shelter building, orienteering, canoeing, respect for nature, nature identification/awareness and wilderness first aid.
- Willing to go on multiple single night-out trips per week.
- Bronze Cross is mandatory.
- Must posses a valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card

Archery
- Personal interest in teaching children the skills of archery including enforcing strict safety regulations
- Must complete Ontario Archery Instruction Coaching Course certification.
- Must be able to repair and maintain arrows, bows and targets.
- Bronze Cross preferred.

Sports / Wall Climbing / Low Ropes / Wet 'n Wild
- Personal interest and experience teaching children specific sports skills (i.e. volleyball, basketball, ball hockey and field sports).
- Personal interest and experience teaching children the skills of wall climbing and low ropes including enforcing strict safety regulations.
- Bronze Cross is mandatory, NLS is preferred, Swim Instructor or Leader qualification recommended.



WATER ACTIVITIES AT HOC:

Water Skiing
- Personal interest and experience teaching children the skills of waterskiing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, barefooting, tricks and slalom skiing.
- Must adhere to enforcing strict boating and safety regulations.
- Must pass the Canadian Water Ski Instructors Course.
- Must have minimum Bronze Cross, (NLS preferred) and be trained in deep water rescue. Staff will be required to also participate as members of the HOC emergency spinal response team.
- Must posses a valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card.
- NLS recommended.

Kayaking
- Personal interest and experience teaching children the skills of kayaking including wet exits, paddling strokes and rollovers.
- ORCKA Flatwater Instructor Qualification preferred.
- Bronze Cross is mandatory, NLS preferred.

Snorkeling
- Personal interest and experience teaching children the skills of snorkeling
- Must posses a valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card.
- Bronze Cross is mandatory, NLS preferred. Swim Instructor qualification recommended.

Board Sailing
- Personal interest and experience teaching children the skills of boardsailing
- Bronze Cross is mandatory, NLS preferred.
- Windsurf Canada "Sail the Rainbow" recommended.

Sailing
- Personal interest and experience teaching children the skills of sailing
- NLS mandatory
- Canadian Yachting Association White Sail Level 3 is preferred
- Pleasure Craft Operators Card

Activity Rover
- Personal interest and experience in instructing children in a variety of program areas.
- Bronze Cross mandatory, NLS preferred.
- Valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card preferred.
