Why send your child to Summer Camp?
Residential camp is a unique experience that benefits the growth and development of children and youth. Although counsellors and directors serve as the adult figures, children who attend HOC find they are required to make their own decisions in the course of the day and become self-reliant. They pick out their clothes for activities, they help clean their cabins and most importantly they determine their level of participation in camp programming. This helps campers quickly realize the importance of participation and responsibility, which helps in the development of their self-esteem and character. Activites are structured to ensure that individuals stay involved and interact with other campers. Social skills and friendships result from teamwork and support that campers provide to each other.
Health and Safety
Parents can be assured that detailed emergency procedures are in place for both on and off ice activities. These procedures are reviewed and practiced with staff during our extensive pre-camp training session. During camp, our fully equipped Health Centre with a full time Nurse or Doctor on-site makes certain that campers receive immediate care for all their medical needs.
Family Night
On Friday night of weeks 3 and 6, families of the four youngest camp sections have the opportunity to join campers and take part in and exciting part of camp life. Three components make up the evening including a water-ski show performed by ski staff, snack and a campfire.
Camp Tours and Visits
As camp owners and directors, we live onsite year round. Between May 1 - December 1, families are welcome to stop by and receive a personal tour. This will give new campers an opportunity to meet us and view our facility. Parents are encouraged to call us in advance to make tour arrangements.
